4 Ways to Spread Kindness At Your Studio
August 14th, 2015 by Roy Patterson
Since the inception of Competition Kindness at StarQuest, there have been some amazing moments of kindness. Not only at the StarQuest Competition — it has spread to other competitions as well! As you prepare for your 2016 season, here are 4 ways to promote kindness during class. If kindness is practiced inside the studio, it will become a natural part of how your dancers interact with other studios.
- Smile and greet everyone who walks into class. You might be very surprised at how a simple smile and hello can impact your team member’s day!
- Compliment one of your team members on something that is not external. It’s always nice to tell someone they “look pretty” or that you “like their shoes” but it’s much more powerful to compliment someone on a personality trait of theirs that you enjoy!
- Learn something about one of your team members that you didn’t know. Do you know everyone’s favorite color or favorite song? If there’s someone in class that you don’t know much about, make it a point to get to know them.
- Plan on doing something kind as a group at your next dance event. You don’t have to wait for the StarQuest Competition Kindness challenges to decide to be kind at your next dance event. Plan to do something as a group that will brighten someone’s day!
