Happiness: are we setting ourselves up for failure or success? That’s the question that came to mind when I was listening to a podcast the other day. The guest speaker was an expert in the psychology of happiness. One of the most interesting points he discussed was that if we define our happiness by when we reach our success, we’re setting ourselves up to fail. This is because we we’re constantly setting new goals to become successful. If we tell ourselves we’ll be happy when we reach our success, the truth is we never get to experience the happiness because our definition of success is always changing. My solution? Celebrate success now in the present moment and invite happiness into your life today.

I challenge you to redefine what success means at a competition by looking at how you were the best version of yourself today. Did you give a hug to a younger dancer who was nervous about competing for the first time? Did you dance your solo from a place of joy and forget about the competition? Maybe you spent your down time being a Competition Kindness Ambassador. These are the successes that you can celebrate each and every day and create a life full of joy and happiness.

Want to physically see just how successful you are on a daily basis? I’m gifting you a worksheet that tracks your daily success. I know that when I see all the great things I’m accomplishing on a daily basis, I can’t help but smile and be happy. Try it out for a week and notice how much happiness shows up. I’d love to celebrate your successes with you so share your happiness and success on social media and tag @AriesInFlight and @StarQuestDance with the hashtag #HappinessRules. Congratulations on your all your successes and remember to celebrate your success now.
