Orlando

Orlando“To all who come to this happy place, welcome!” We truly felt welcome as we landed in the Happiest Place on Earth for the most exciting competition of the season. This past week in #SQOrlando was full of family, joy, and love. The memories we made will last us for years to come.

Monday

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” – Walt Disney

MondayWe were so excited to kick-off our week in Galveston with our littlest dancers. Mickey Mouse was proud of our Petites as they took the stage and made it their own for their solos and duet/trios! After the Petites finished, it was time for the Seniors and Teens to take to the stage with their solos and duet/trios. We even had a couple of adults take the stage to showcase their talents to the judges. It was obvious that we had an exciting week ahead of us. We also loved how close we were to the Disney property! Once our dancers finished performing, they had a chance to go relax in the parks. How fun!

Tuesday

“The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique” – Walt Disney

TuesdayTuesday was another full day of solos! Our Juniors arrived ready to rock the stage, and they did not disappoint. Each dance was truly unique and brought the house down. While our juniors were dancing their hearts out on-stage, our petites, teens, and seniors were dancing their hearts out in the master class room! We had plenty of classes to keep our dancers preoccupied in all different types of genres. Whether they wanted to take a class in musical theatre, tap, hip-hop, even jazz funk, our judges were ready to teach! Back on the main stage, when we thought the day couldn’t get any more exciting, our Teens arrived to blow our minds. Their solos were out of this world and kept us dancing all night long!

Wednesday

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney

WednesdayWednesday started strong with our Junior Duet/Trios and did not slow down as we headed into our first groups of the week. Our first group actually was a Disney theme in itself, “Beauty & The Beast!” Our Petites and Juniors put on an amazing show all day long! After our Juniors finished their large groups and lines, we got ready for our first dance-off of the week, the Elite 8 Dance-Off! We were so excited to watch these dancers leave it all on-stage as they competed for Title. After all of the Titles were awarded, we cleared the stage for our favorite dance party, the Pizza Party! All of our dancers, and even our judges, joined us on-stage to party the night away. To put it mildly, the party was LIT! We had a blast playing games, eating pizza, and dancing to all of our favorite toons.

Thursday

“Laughter is America’s most important export.” – Walt Disney

ThursdayWe were so honored to spend the Fourth of July doing what we love the most, dancing! This country gives us the freedom to express ourselves in whatever way we want, and our dancers were ready to practice this freedom. Many arrived on Wednesday adorned in American Flags, including our staff! It didn’t take long, however, for these flags to be replaced by amazing dance costumes for our day full of Teen/Senior groups. What blew us away on Thursday were the prop dads! No matter what studio they represented, they all worked together to make the backstage efficient and safe. It was fun watching them all work together to keep the show awesome!

Friday

“Togetherness, for me, means teamwork.” – Walt Disney.

FridayAs we approached the Classic Dance-Off, we couldn’t help but notice the amazing teamwork our dancers had with each other. Each studio was a strong family ready to come together and compete one last time. We loved watching the comradery as we prepared for this illustrious event. Our Classic Dance-Off celebrated the excellence in every dancer that stepped on-stage. When asked how her team strives for excellence, Miss Monet from ZD Dance put it perfectly. “Instilling in them that dance is all about discipline. We demand their best, we want them to be their best selves, and we accept nothing but excellence.” As we ended

Saturday

“Whatever we accomplish belongs to our entire group, a tribute to our combined effort.” – Walt Disney.

SaturdayWe woke up on Saturday with excitement in our hearts. While we were sad that our time in Orlando was coming to a close, we couldn’t wait to see our dancers shine on-stage one last time in our Quest For The Best Dance-Off. Before we knew it, our dancers were on-stage giving it their all. The passion our dancers had for their performances was electric! You could tell that everyone was excited to step on the stage and give it their all.

As we headed into awards, the room was full of emotion. Everyone was so joyful and excited to find out where their dances had landed. Before long, the confetti had landed, the awards had been given out, and the week was over. We couldn’t believe what an amazing week we had in Orlando and we are so excited to head to Virginia Beach for another week of amazing experiences.
