#SQBehindTheScenes – The Financial Administrator

There’s a lot of logistics that go into planning a competition weekend. When we have questions about money, we turn to Melissa, our awesome Financial Administrator. Let’s check-in with her and learn more about her position.
1. What does the financial administrator generally do?
I take care of anything financial. From receiving payments from the studios to paying the phone bill at the office, I make sure everything is running smoothly. I am also in charge of Human Resources. That means I get to take care of our staff and make sure they are set up for success.
2. Why is your position so important when planning for the new season?
By ensuring that we plan well financially, we can update our equipment to be in tip-top shape for the new season and deliver the best experience possible to the guests. I also assist in keeping expenses low, so we can keep our fees as low as possible.
3. What do you love about working for StarQuest?
I love teamwork, and this job allows me to support our team every step of the way. I also love paperwork and this job requires a lot of it. I walk away everyday feeling accomplished!
4. How does your job affect a dancer’s experience at one of our competitions?
I manage the budgets across all departments so they can get what they need to enhance the experience on site for the dancers. I also help build our online registration system so the studios have a seamless process before the event! I love hearing their suggestions and implementing them the next year. Lastly, I make sure the venues get paid on time so we can actually hold the competition!
5. What is your favorite song to dance to?
I love Queen!
