ADJUDICATION AWARDS

ADJUDICATION RANGES

SCORE BASED AWARDS

Top Score:

• “Top Score” placements will be given to the highest scoring entries within all “Select”, “Classic” & “Nova” levels from each division in every age class.
• At least a top 5 will be announced for each division, age class, and level. We may announce a top 10, 15, 20, or more if there are enough entries in any division, age class, and level.
  • All “Top Score” winners will receive one top score pin per contestant and one custom award per entry.

Vocalist Award: 

• Top Score Vocal Placements will be given to the highest scoring Vocal Solo in the Mini/Petite/Junior & Teen/Senior age classes, within their respective levels.
• Top Score Vocal Placements will be given to the highest scoring Vocal Duet/Trio in the Mini/Petite/Junior & Teen/Senior age classes, within their respective levels.
• Top Score Vocal Placements will be given to the highest scoring Vocal Group/Line in the Mini/Petite/Junior & Teen/Senior age classes, within their respective levels.
  • All Vocal Award winners will receive one top score pin per contestant and one custom award per entry.
  • Vocal Solos are not eligible to enter Title.

Parent Award

• The Highest scoring Parent Routine will be announced and will receive one top score pin per contestant and one custom award per entry.
• All Parent routines are judged at the Select Level.

Adult Award:

• Top Score Placements will be given to the highest scoring Adult Solos.
• Top Score Placements will be given to the highest scoring Adult Duet/Trio/Group/Lines.
  • All Top Score Adult winners will receive one top score pin per contestant and one custom award per entry.
• All Adult routines are judged at the Select Level.

Progressive Award:

• Top Score Placements will be given to the highest scoring Progressive Solos.
• Top Score Placements will be given to the highest scoring Progressive Duet/Trio/Group/Lines.
  • All Top Score Progressive winners will receive one top score pin per contestant and one custom award per entry.
• All Progressive routines are judged at the Select Level.

Rising Star Award

• The highest scoring Rising Star routine will be announced and will receive one top score pin per contestant and a custom award per entry.

Title Awards:

• Nova Emerging Artist:
  • A Nova Level soloist may enter as many as two regional solo routines for a regional “Nova Emerging Artist” title.
  • “Nova Emerging Artist” scores are separate and not related to their adjudication score. The score is based on the performer’s overall performance ability, personality, and entertainment skills in addition to technique.
  • All Genders compete together for “Nova Emerging Artist”.
  • Each winner receives one Free Title add at a 2024 World Finals, a custom award, and several other prizes.
  • Up to 2 Runners Up will be announced and will receive a custom award.
  • All Participants up for Nova Emerging Artist will receive a custom medal.
  • Winner will receive a scholarship sponsored by Liberate Artists
• Classic Emerging Artist:
  • A Classic Level soloist may enter as many as two regional solo routines for a regional “Classic Emerging Artist” title.
  • “Classic Emerging Artist” scores are separate and not related to their adjudication score. The score is based on the performer’s overall performance ability, personality, and entertainment skills in addition to technique.
  • All Genders compete together for “Classic Emerging Artist”.
  • Each winner receives one Free Title add at a 2024 World Finals, a custom award, and several other prizes.
  • Up to 2 Runners Up will be announced and will receive a custom award.
  • All Participants up for Classic Emerging Artist will receive a custom medal.
  • Winner will receive a scholarship sponsored by Liberate Artists
• Elite Dancer
  • A Select Level soloist may enter as many as three regional solo routines for a regional “Elite Dancer″.
  • “Elite Dancer” scores are separate and not related to their adjudication score. The score is based on the performer’s overall performance ability, personality, and entertainment skills in addition to technique.
  • All Genders compete together for “Elite Dancer”.
  • Each winner receives one Free Title add at a 2024 World Finals, a custom award, and several other prizes.
  • Up to 2 Runners Up will be announced and will receive a custom award.
  • All Participants up for Elite Dancer will receive a custom medal.
  • Winner will receive a scholarship sponsored by Liberate Artists
• The cost of regional title is $60 per entry.

Category Awards (Classic and Select Levels Only):

• Solos: The overall highest scoring solo routines within their respective categories. Given out for Petite, Junior, Teen, and Senior in the Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary/Modern, Musical Theatre/Character, Ballet/Pointe, Open/Acro Gym Dance, Hip Hop. Separate Awards for the Classic and Select Levels.
• Duet/Trios: The overall highest scoring Duet/Trio routines within their respective categories. Given out for Petite, Junior, Teen, and Senior in the Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary/Modern, Musical Theatre/Character, Ballet/Pointe, Open/Acro Gym Dance, Hip Hop. Separate Awards for the Classic and Select Levels.
• Groups: The overall highest scoring group routines within their respective categories. Given out for Petite/Junior and Teen/Senior in the Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary/Modern, Musical Theatre/Character, Ballet/Pointe, Open/Acro Gym Dance, Hip Hop. Separate Awards for the Classic and Select Levels.

Select Apogee Award: The overall highest scoring regional group entry from all the “Select” Small Groups, Large Groups, Lines, & Mega Lines will be announced in both Petite/Junior and Teen/Senior Age Classes. Winning routines will receive a custom award.

SPECIAL AWARDS

Judges Special Awards: Uniquely crafted awards from our judges acknowledging individual & group achievement presented at every awards ceremony!

Spreading Kindness: A uniquely crafted award for individually recognized dancers who have demonstrated random acts of sportsmanship & kindness among their fellow dancers & studios. This award is presented directly by a StarQuest staff member.

Viral Video Award: The routine that exemplifies the WOW factor at the competition. Winning routine will receive a custom award and will be eligible to compete in our online Viral Video of the Year competition.

Photogenic Award: Awarded to the contestants judged to be the most photogenic in the Mini/Petite/Junior, Teen/Senior & Adult divisions.

• Entries in this category must already be participating in the competition and must submit a recent photo via the online registration portal or onsite. – Head and shoulder shots are preferred.
• A minimum of 6 Photogenic entries per Mini/Petite/Junior Solo Photogenic, Teen/Senior Solo Photogenic & Adult Photogenic must be registered or a combination of ages will occur.
• Winning photos will be displayed on the StarQuest website.
• Regional Photogenic fee is $35 for the first photo and $25 per additional photo. Finals Photogenic fee is $45 for the first photo and $35 per additional photo.
• Winner will receive a scholarship sponsored by Artists Unite Collective

Costume Award:

• Awarded to routines with outstanding costumes that enhance the dance.
• Custom Awards will be given to the costume winners and Awards Of Distinction at each Award Ceremony throughout the weekend.
  • All StarQuest entries in all levels are automatically eligible for Costume Awards at no additional cost.

Odyssey Awards: Awarded to the most entertaining group routines from the Mini, Petite, Junior, Teen, and Senior age classes. Winning studios will receive a custom award.

Acrobatic Arts Award: Sponsored by Acrobatic Arts, a scholarship is awarded to a studio to help in the continued education of their teachers. The winning studio receives a certificate valued at $750 to use towards Acrobatic Arts Modules.

Studio Superlative Awards: Awarded to studios showcasing notable examples of unique and daring creative concepts such as musicality/complex staging/storytelling/risk taking/innovation. Winning studios will receive a custom award.

Choreography Awards: Awarded to studios chosen for showcasing outstanding choreography at each regional competition. Winning studios will receive a custom award.

GIFT CERTIFICATE EARNINGS

JUDGING

2024 WORLD FINALS AWARDS

• All Awards above remain the same at world finals except those listed below.
• Gift Certificate amounts increase at World Finals and Cash Awards are given to all 1^stplace – 3^rd place Groups during the “Quest For The Best” and “Classic Dance Off”

• Viral Video is NOT given out at World Finals

WORLD FINALS TOP SCORE

Solos & Duet/Trios

• The Top 5 “Select” Solos & Duet/Trios in all 4 age classes will be announced in no particular order and will re-compete at “Quest For The Best”.
• If all 3 judges unanimously agree, they have the right to take the Top Ten into “Quest For The Best”.

Small Groups, Large Groups, Lines & Mega Lines:

• 1-10th place “Nova” Groups & Lines in all 5 age classes will be presented during the World Finals. (“Nova” Groups & Lines do not re-perform.)
• The Top 10 “Select” & “Classic” Groups, Lines, & Mega Lines in all 4 age classes will be presented during the World Finals.
  • The Top 5 Studios from each “Select” & “Classic” Small Group, Large Group, Line & Mega Line in all 4 age classes re-compete at “Quest For The Best” or “Classic Dance Off”.

Nova Apogee Award: The overall highest scoring regional group entry from all the “Nova” Small Groups, Large Groups & Lines, & Mega Lines will be announced in both Petite/Junior and Teen/Senior Age Classes. Winning routines will receive a custom award.

Adult, Progressive & Vocal

• Top Score Placements will be given to the highest scoring Adult, Progressive & Vocal Solos.
• Top Score Placements will be given to the highest scoring Adult, Progressive & Vocal Duet/Trio/Group/Lines.
• Adult, Progressive, & Vocal Top Scores do not re-compete in “Classic Dance-Off & “Quest For The Best”.
• All Adult & Progressive routines are judged at the Select Level.

*New for 2024* – Improv Competition (Sponsored by Artists Unite Collective)

• Awards will be given out in the Mini/Petite/Junior & Teen/Senior age divisions.
• Each Participant will receive a medal. Top Scores will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.
• Awards will be presented onstage during the awards ceremony following the competition.

“Classic Dance Off” Trophies, Cash, Gift Certificates & 3 New Judges!

The Top 5 Studios from each “Classic” Group division & age class compete in “Classic Dance Off”.

“Classic Dance-Off” Apogee Award: The judges will rank all 1^st place “Classic” Small Groups, Large Groups, Lines & Mega Lines in the “Classic Dance-Off”. The highest ranked Petite/Junior group routine receives the Petite/Junior “Classic Dance-Off” Apogee. The highest ranked Teen/Senior group routine receives the Teen/Senior “Classic Dance-Off” Apogee.

“Classic” Studio of Excellence: The studio with the most accumulated 1^st place & Apogee wins in the “Classic Dance-Off” throughout ALL age classes will be designated “Classic” Studio of Excellence.

“Quest For The Best” Trophies, Cash, Gift Certificates & 3 New Judges!

The Top 5 Routines from each “Select” Solo & Duet/Trio division & age class will re-compete in “QFTB”.

The Top 5 Studios from each “Select” Group division & age class compete in “QFTB”.

“Select QFTB” Apogee Award: The judges rank all 1^st place “Select” Small Groups, Large Groups, Lines & Mega Lines in the “QFTB” per age class. The highest ranked Petite/Junior routine receives the Petite/Junior “QFTB” Apogee. The highest ranked Teen/Senior routine receives the Teen/Senior “QFTB” Apogee.

“Select” Studio of Excellence: The studio with the most accumulated 1^st Place & Apogee wins in the “Select QFTB” throughout ALL age classes will be designated “Select” Studio of Excellence.
