The Experience is the Real Award.
After a big performance, taking time to recharge can be just as important as the preparation that led up to it. Performing requires focus, energy, and emotional investment, so finding ways to rest and reset helps artists stay balanced and ready for what comes next.
For some performers, that might mean quiet time, stretching, or reflecting on the experience. For others, it might be celebrating with friends, listening to music, or simply getting a good night of rest.
Every artist has their own way of restoring energy after stepping off stage.
How do you like to recharge after a big performance?

Wellness Insight: Prepare Your Body Well
Everyone’s body and physical needs are different. We encourage you to listen to your body and prepare it before class, rehearsal, or performance. A thoughtful warm-up helps muscles gradually increase in temperature, improves coordination, and allows dancers to move with greater control and awareness.
Dance medicine research shows that warming up properly can reduce injury risk and help dancers perform more safely and effectively. Gentle cardiovascular activity, dynamic stretching, and mindful movement give the body time to adjust and prepare for the physical demands of dancing.
We encourage you to build a few minutes of intentional warm-up into your routine before dancing this week. Light cardio, controlled stretching, or simple movement patterns can help activate your muscles, improve focus, and support a healthier, more sustainable dance practice.
Remember that every dancer’s body is different. If you have concerns about injuries, pain, or physical limitations, consult a qualified healthcare professional for guidance before beginning or modifying any physical activity.
